Sanitation coverage was 100% in 1990 and seems to have slightly decreased in 2004 (99%), Considering the small sample size, these figures are to be taken with some precaution.

In terms of numbers, there are 70 million more people who live in these regions. Urban dwellers have nearly all gained access to improved sanitation facilities between 1990 and 2004.
